The project has already organized workshops and conference presentations including round tables at international congresses. In 2008/09 MAD at CEU and Krems targeted a variety of written, visual, and zooarchaeological sources from Central Europe on wild and domestic pigs. This research showed the potential of interdisciplinary approaches to highlight the many facets of the role of animals in human society. A collection of essays has already been published; another extensive peer-reviewed volume will follow.
